Maria Xireas lost 48kg (7st 8lbs) on the Low Carb Program
Maria Xireas came across the Low Carb Program after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in January 2017.
“My doctor didn’t give me much information, he just wanted to put me on medication, which I refused.”
Maria instead decided to adopt a low carb lifestyle and discovered a love for cooking. She now enjoys meals such as chicken salads and homemade low carb burgers. Through making this change, she’s managed to lose an incredible 48kg (7st 8lbs) and has reduced her HbA1c from 92 mmol/mol (10.6%) to 34 mmol/mol (5.3%).
“Set yourself small goals and don’t be overwhelmed. Don’t try and change your life overnight. I have switches, this is how I’m going to eat for the rest of my life but I know it’s not the same for everyone. Just start with 2kg at a time. Change gradually, even switch to having smaller portions for example. That’s what the Low Carb Program is all about anyway.”
